Vintage Carved Onyx Kangaroo Figurine

This vintage kangaroo is hand carved from banded onyx, with swirls of honey, caramel, and cream running through the stone. He sits upright on his tail with his front paws held together, and has a small inlaid black eye. Hand-carved onyx animals like this were popular souvenir and curio pieces in the 1970s and 80s.

The stone has a polished finish that catches the light nicely, and the natural banding makes every piece one of a kind.

Condition: Good vintage condition. Small natural inclusions and minor surface roughness consistent with carved stone and its age.
